A Leader I Admire
The leader that comes to mind is someone I view as strong, determined, and levelheaded. Over the four years I have known this person, they have constantly been there as a figure in other's lives, and is someone who puts others before themselves. They are of full of love and the ability to make others feel like they matter.
This person is someone who is highly educated. I do not think it takes being highly educated to become a leader, however their determination to do so is something I admire. The quality of determination is something I feel I consider first when thinking about leaders in my life. In life we often get knocked down, and being able to withstand hardship while remaining focused on your goals is a quality I would want to see in myself.
This person is focused. They are able to somehow always see the big picture. They are able to conceptualize the future in ways that promotes calmness and clear vision for what they would like to accomplish next. I admire that they are able to look into the future and create a plan rather than feel nervous when things don't work out.
This person is also compassionate. Because of the relationship I have with this person, I believe that it could be easy for me to assume this quality, but watching their interactions with people they do not know further tells me that their compassion and love for people and their well-being is real. Caring for others in a deep way I believe is a great quality as a leader.
In action, this leader works with college students in many capacities. In each role they have, I truly believe they will do anything to fight for the success of these students. The care put into these roles shows me how committed this person is to others and for what they believe in.
In the field of education, this person works at the state level fighting for educators and children. In this field, they are well respected and always expect people to put their best foot forward. Because other's regard this person so highly, I believe others strive to create their best work.
I picked to write about this person because I hope to resemble them in some ways as I get older. I see how much I value this person and respect them for all of the amazing work they do in their professional life, and I too would like to be seen this way as an adult.
Gosh, I found myself admiring this person after reading this. Well done! The even-keel and ability to stay calm even when things don't go as planned is a skill I've been working on. COVID times have been really helpful in advancing my learning in this area! :D
